What is the Threads app? How does it work?
Threads app: is a new app, built by the Instagram team, for sharing text updates and joining public conversations. The app is a companion to Instagram, and it allows users to share photos, videos, messages, and other content with a select group of people. Like on Instagram, with Threads you can follow and connect with friends and creators who share your interests – including those you follow on Instagram and beyond. And you can use our existing suite of safety and user controls.
How does it work?
to get started with Threads: simply use your Instagram account Download the Threads app into your phone once you download it will automatically connect to your Instagram account. then it gives you the prompt to create your own name and bio etc… you can fill that out or you can select import from Instagram button and it will copy every information from your Instagram Account.
Next, you will get the option to select whether you have a private account or public account. If you choose to have a public profile anyone on or off Threads can see, share and interact with your content. And then on the private account, only your approved followers can see and interact with your content. After that Threads gives you an option if you want to follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram. You can follow all and you can simply choose and follow some. After completing these steps, you have your Threads account.
Since Threads is powered by Instagram, in order to delete your Threads profile, you will also have to delete your Instagram account.
Features of the Threads App
- You can control who can mention you and reply to you. And as an option you have anyone, profiles you follow, and Mentions only.
- If you blocked someone on your Instagram account. They will be blocked in your Threads account as well.
- You can add hidden words to filter out replies to your threads that contain specific words.
- The ability to form bespoke groupings of friends known as “close friends”. These groups can be used for messaging, exchanging content. And rapidly accessing those in the group’s status updates. This feature enables users to talk more quietly and selectively with their closest friends without having to start a new group chat every time.
- Automatic status update: Threads use location and battery life data from the user’s phone to offer real-time updates to their friends. These updates can be customized and disabled at any time. Users can also manually update their status and share what they’re up to with their friends.
- A camera feature: that allows users to easily capture photographs and videos. The camera includes a number of creative tools and filters for enhancing the content. Users can then share these photographs and videos with their close friends immediately.
- Everyone who is under 16 (or under 18 in certain countries) will default to a private profile when they join Threads.
- On Threads, you can Reply, Repost, and Quote
