Ethiopia’s Immigration & Citizenship Service Updates Passport Fees: Addis Ababa December 19/2019 – August 7, 2024 — As of August 7/2024 the Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICB) are now receiving new issuance fees for passport production. New passport price hiking to 5,000 ETB Those who require their passport urgently can have it delivered to them within two days by paying an additional 25,000 ETB.
The Council of Ministers had earlier approved the revised service fee structure, which resulted in this adjustment. Here is what the pricing will look like with this updated arrangement:
- New or Renewal: 5,000 ETB passport
- Fastest Delivery (2 days): 25,000 ETB
- A 5-day urgent delivery:20,000 ETB
- Other Services — anywhere between 2,000 ETB and up to 40,000 ETB for the below ones;
- The cost is additional 13,000 ETB for Lost Passports
In a bid to ease the frustration associated with delays in issuing of passport, both at home and abroad; these changes forms part various others that have been introduced. These delays have led to Ethiopians cancelling or delaying their travel plans as well. The goal of the new premium service is to give potentially expelled students an expensive, speedier way out. The 10,000 ETB rate is up by as much as a half literally in the new urgent delivery fee from what used to be only 5000 ETB but, and payment for issuance or renewal of regular passports will cost more than double compared to before reaching an average list price set at around three times higher costing schedule that was conferred during two days after CA minister divulged hike on quarterly print media presser.
